Let's Build It - 107115

See the laws of motion at work in this thrilling, hands-on course. Both new and returning participants are welcome. Students will construct machines, like the Heavyweight Hammer and the Spin-o-Matic, and then combine them to create exciting chain reactions! Each week, the chain reactions will become more complex with the introduction of new machines. The projects will afford students the opportunity to delve into concepts such as force, gravity, velocity, types of energy, and balance. At the end of the session, students will be challenged to create the Ultimate Chain Reaction by working cooperatively to see how many machines they can incorporate. No previous experience is necessary, just a desire to learn and build. Each participants will receive an award on the last day of the session, and have the opportunity to earn Energy Belts by demonstrating their learned skills!

RoboThink offers academically oriented STEM programs focusing on coding for budding, intermediate or advanced students. Armed with motors, sensors, gears and mainboards, students code robot creations of all shapes, sizes and functions! Each session, students are introduced to coding concepts through our trained instructors and STEM workbooks. Students are in turn, asked to apply these concepts to solve challenges, provide solutions to problems and build creative robots. No prior experience is required, our instructors are trained to assess and adjust our curriculum as necessary to meet your student's level. Students use a specialized version of Scratch to code the robots that they build! As directors and producers we will work in teams to create our own story and script, build various Star Wars Lego scenes and film our own movie. Instructors will guide students through core concepts of electrical engineering, introducing them to circuits and electrical components. Haven't you always wanted to learn this beautiful writing? Your instructor has 20 years of experience teaching calligraphy and has designed a basic course using dip pen and ink. Students will learn the classic 15th Century Italic alphabet, together with design application, photocopy techniques, and special projects like greeting cards and poems. Supplies can be purchased from the instructor on the first night of class for $15.
